Swim.com: Swim Tracker App Reviews

Poor tracker

Warning: negative report. I swim daily. It is not tracking, gets stuck, fails to record accurately. While I love the idea of getting my USMS practice schedule uploaded to my watch, it doesn’t work. At this rate, I am printing out my workouts and taking them to the pool daily. I would love to have the support, and it’s not worth the annoying feelings during a workout.

Won’t let me change my birthday

I haven’t tested it yet, but I am a younger swimmer. My Apple Watch does track my swimming distance very well, me and my family have had problems with Apple fitness. But that’s not the point, I try to change it to my birthday but I won’t let me. Even though the app says 4+ kinda confusing but yeah

Works pretty good, but needs some adjusting

I’ve used this App for a while now and I’ve noticed it doesn’t recognize when I mix kick board laps in with my intervals. I seems like the app misses the turn and just keeps timing the last lap. I also noticed it didn’t sink my calories burned for the swimming session.

Frustrated

App was fine for long time. Recently stopped tracking swims. Submitted a request for help twice. No responses Just tried deleting and reloading app. Hopefully todays swim will be tracked

Distance

This app is terrible half the time I’m using it it gets the distance wrong terrible

Very good, some issues

I’ve tried multiple swim apps and this has been the best at tracking my swims on my watch during the swim. Would like it if the interval time was a bit larger for readability (I like to glance at watch on my turns), but otherwise works great. One thing that bugs me is that often when uploading my swim to phone, it wipes out my movement activity on the watch as if I didn’t work out at all. My movement will literally drop a few hundred calories. Would be great if this was fixed!

Wouldn’t recommend watch app, workouts good though

Good concept, but watch app is very buggy. Wouldn’t let me “end workout,” then just crashed, deleting the whole workout I’d just done. Watch UI mostly unhelpful with having to unlock water mode to get any details about the set. App is fine if you’re just using for workout library

Nope

Has some nice features. But it can’t recognize when I’m kicking. Seems pretty basic for a swim training app. Even the Out-of-the-box Apple Workouts app is more accurate. I’m using a series 10 watch, so an older model can’t work any better.

Good

I like this app lots. Lots of details

Doesn’t Track Kicking With A Board

This app works great. I love it. I just wish that it could track kicking. When I do a kick set it always says that I take really long rests but I don’t. It says that because when I am kicking with a board it doesn’t track that.

Great

I swim every day and this works great.

I like it

The only issues is that it does not register my kick sets in a pool unless I swing my one arm a few times each 25. I would give this app 5 stars if it just counted my kicks. I like that it gives me my average 100 time based on my movement and not just the overall workout time divided by the distance swam. This results in much more accurate 100 pace during workouts. No other problems at all.

Watch app completely failed to track

No matter what, I could not get the Apple Watch app to track my swim today. It’s the first time I swam in 2 1/2 years, and I’ve use Swim.com a lot in the past on both Samsung and Apple Watches. For whatever reason, it just would not track. The display would go back to the watch face leaving the water lock active, and there was no display of any swimming done. I un-water-locked the watch launch the app, it was right back to the default screen where you start your workout. I tried this a few times and gave up. Ended up using Apple Watch, but I was already partway into my swim, so I only got part of it recorded.

You ruined a great app!

Since the update, the Swim app does not update Apple Watch workouts for days and sometimes not at all. What happened??

Works most of the time

I like the app and it does a decent job tracking my yardage (and I love that you can do drill sets). My problem is that every 2-3 swims the app just closes / stops / crashes and loses track of my workout. It’s SO frustrating to swim and have it crash (sometimes multiple times during a workout).

Missing functions, frequently down

I like the workouts since I am a masters and prior competitive swimmer. The long distance workouts are great. However, there needs to be a way to search by distance or coach. The workouts are loosely put into categories (IM, Free, etc) but often not really representative of the categories. Please get Garmin support so I can get the workout to my watch. The app is often down and can’t get in. If doing maintenance, please don’t do Saturday mid mornings since that is a prime time for heading to the pool for a workout.

Up loading

Whenever I try to up load a swim from my watch ( Apple ultra 2) it freezes the watch and I have to shut the watch down & re-start the watch it’s very annoying Note: the watch will sync the swim automatically IF born the watch and iPhone are connected to the same WiFi

please fix bug

after updates as 5.4.9, the app is crushed whenever i tried to access the specific club information.

Doesn’t Track Breast Stroke

I used this for a couple months. It always showed half my swim time as rest time. Support ignored me after one response. Switched back to apple workout app that tracks everything as active time.

All fixed

My previous issues with the app were actually WatchOS related. Now that everything is working properly, I have no complaints. The app keeps track of my swimming including rest time. It’s nice to be able to track my progress throughout the year. Thanks to swim.com ‘s quick and responsive support team!

Wanted to love this app

Found that it didn’t work most of the time. What’s the point!

Great motivator

Joining challenges keeps me going back to swim. Updates are slow but great for tracking swims.

Great app enjoy using and seeing the data breakdown after my swim / very helpful.. thanks

Great website to use for logging and viewing my swim stats

Overstating Distance

Apple Watch SE owner since October 2022. For some reason the app is overstating my distance in the water today I did 500 yards the watch record of 1200 yards however using the native activity app that comes with the phone My distance was recorded accurately. Any ideas?

App tends to lock up when using upload button. Had to delete and reinstall app each time it happens.

Use only the done button helps

Good, but a little wonky with stroke detection

They’ve made some good improvements to the app over the last few years. I like the drill setting, and how it’s easy to edit workouts. However, stroke detection needs work. I’m a pretty experienced swimmer, with really good form, but it still thinks my butterfly is freestyle, and sometimes thinks my backstroke is breaststroke. I’m not sure if this is a bug with Apple Watch 8 (stroke detection was better on my series 5). It is good with lap count, but could be improved in recognizing sets better…even tho I do flip turns and long sets, it still divides sets into smaller sets. Still, I do like the improvements they’ve made in the last few years. Keep working on it.

App does not record exercise time correctly

For some unknown reasons, the app stop recording the activity about 10 min earlier than the actual recorded time. I could find a solution to this annoying issue. Writing to support did not yet produce any result

Stats need improvement

Please make similar to Garmin in being able to do totals for month and year. Instead of us having to manually add up. Also would like cumulate to date.

Excellent App and customer support

After 3 years of using this app, I can say it covers all the needs of the swimmer and it keeps evolving and adding functionalities. Unmatched and highly responsive customer support makes it even better.

Does not sync

Tried using it with my Apple Watch but it couldn’t tell when I ended a lap and I had to manually advance to the next drill. Didn’t log as a workout either in the swim.com app or apple workouts. Love the idea of getting workouts on my watch but not helpful if I can’t track my progress. Easier to just print out a workout and stick it on a spare kickboard.

Great app for swimmers!

This app works. I am not sure where all the complaints come from. It counts laps, yards/meters, shows heart rate in one place. The new redesign on AW is just perfect. Especially the color coding. The stats on phone seems to be a little “cluttered” but still show all that is needed. This review comes from a guy with over 40 years of experience swimming. To developers, keep up the great work. Thanks!

No longer works. Can start app or log in

New version. Locked out. Forgot password doesn’t work. Tried for 2 days.

Working great and then I can’t log in

The app randomly stooped letting me log in or create a new account even after I deleted and redownload it. Super annoying.

Latest release can’t count laps

This app has been unstable for years. Every time they make a change they break something else. The latest is that you can no longer count laps. Pretty basic thing to request. The developers obviously have no quality control. The app is also not private. And they share my location and name with others. I have no desire to have my name on a feed when my privacy is important to me. At the very least fix the app so it can count laps again instead of yards

Not loading stats

More accurate than iSwimStat, and I compare it with a couple others but this doesn’t load quickly. It takes hours or even days to show up even though I refresh many times. Not sure if I’m using it correctly. Synched with Apple Watch.

I would imagine it only works with an Apple watch

If you want to use this with other than an Apple watch, don't. Stick with Strava.

Useless

Does not show up on my watch.

Stopped uploading to Apple health

I like this app because it’s the only one I know of that lets me edit back in my kick set yardage after the workout is done. There is no choice for a kick set in the editing section so I call them a drill. App worked well until recently then suddenly stopped uploading data to Apple health. After about one month an update was released and now everything is working properly again.

This app was working great….

However after updating to apple watch 8 it’s not importing my swims t the Apple activity tracker …..

My activity app and this app swim times are different

I am not sure why my time on swim.com is faster than my time on my activity when I start there but the distance is the same. Great otherwise

Miss on pool counting

The app randomly splits pools while swimming, so the total number of pool in a swim is larger and thus the pace is faster than the actual one. I use the app with iWatch 7

Open swim better than Apple Watch

This one tracks your distance, time and heart rate. The open water course is still a mess of spaghetti due to GPS issues but still superior to the native Apple Watch program for open water. Pool swimmers will appreciate the workouts. It is FREE! If the GPS improves would rate 5 stars. All in all I really appreciate this app. Thanks to the swim.com team!

Nice screen for Apple Watch, but it doesn’t communicate with iPhone fitness app

I got this app to track open water swims. As stand-alone app, it’s quite good. Distance is much more accurate than with Apple Watch, and it even includes breast stroke distance, but calories only appear in iPhone fitness app after a lag, and don’t count towards daily move goal. Distance appears to be the inaccurate Apple Watch measure. Also, there’s no information about strokes swum. I’ll wait until these bugs are fixed before using swim.com to track my swims.

auto-imports swim workouts fixed

It used to auto-import swim workouts from the health app, but for some reason they removed that feature. Now it’s back.

What happened to auto imports?!?

I used this feature for every one of my swims and now I have to manually import. Can no longer get my splits.

good swimming app

it’s work well even if the pool size is not standard lap.

I want this app to work

But it’s iffy at best Now it hasn’t recorded a swim since Dec 7 I have uninstalled and reinstalled. Went through an involved trouble-shooting a year or more ago, and it’s still hit or miss. Wish I could depend on it.

A sometimes frustrating

When it automatically syncs it is good but each year have problems with this. I love when it works correctly but not so much when it doesn’t. The service with issues of connectivity or syncing not much help. But it would be five stars if it worked correctly all the time.

Much better than Apple Watch native tracker

Great.
